If you enjoy tying on your hiking boots and heading for the hills, then you’re in the perfect spot at Numero 182.While the farmhouse is only at 200m above sea level, the dramatic views it affords would have believe you’re considerably higher, and heading north it only gets better: the village of Pietrabuona, which we overlook, is the first of the Dieci Castella (10 Castles) in the valley known as the Svizzera Pesciatina (Pescia’s Switzerland). There are another 9 small and quiet villages along the ridges of the valley, all of which have spectacular views and were formerly fortified towns that were fiercly fought over for many years between the cities of Lucca, Florence and Pisa.As far as hiking is concerned, there are plenty of fantastic walks to be done without even leaving the valley - you can either walk from the apartment or take a short drive to start from a village futher along the valley. We have a selection of maps and guides available for use by guests and will happily share our knowledge of the area with you on your arrival. If you would like a guided walk with a local hiking & nature guide, we can also arrange that for you.
